The real road from Hurghada Airport to El Gouna
These photos were taken during a real guest transfer to El Gouna with our local driver Ahmed Hany. They follow the journey north through Al Ahyaa, the open desert stretch beyond Hurghada, the El Gouna access area and the final drive inside the resort. This is the route as our passengers actually see it—not a stock-photo version of the journey.

Heading north through Al Ahyaa. The route passes the northern Hurghada hotel strip; AMC is on the right on this journey, and several hotel entrances sit very close to the main coastal road.
Continuing through Al Ahyaa with the Palm Beach area on the right. Along this strip, the gap between the main road and the coast is relatively narrow, so many hotel entrances are reached by short turns from the road.
Still heading north through the Al Ahyaa side of Hurghada. Older road signage marks local districts, El Gouna and the onward northern route toward Cairo. The surrounding development is mostly low-rise, which keeps the roadside profile open.
The northern hotel strip continues while resurfacing and road-improvement work is visible. This is a useful reminder that real transfer times can shift when road works are active.
After leaving the denser northern Hurghada development, the road opens into the Red Sea desert. The visual change is immediate: fewer buildings, long straight sections and mountains visible in the distance.
Approaching El Gouna, the scenery changes again from open desert to landscaped resort access roads with palms, signs and maintained verges.
El Gouna has controlled vehicle access. On this particular transfer, we saw private cars being stopped for checks while our licensed tourist vehicle followed the normal entry procedure without the same stop. Access procedures can vary, so this is a real-route observation rather than a universal rule.
Inside El Gouna, the route becomes greener and more local. Tuk-tuks are a familiar short-distance transport option within the resort and share the internal roads with cars and hotel transfer vehicles.
Roundabouts, directional signs, lane markings and landscaped junctions make the internal road network easy to distinguish from the open coastal road outside the resort.
The final stage: arrival at the booked hotel. Because El Gouna is spread across distinct neighbourhoods, lagoons and hotel zones, the exact property still matters after passing the main entrance.
Roadworks, traffic, landscaping and access procedures can change. The photos document this specific transfer journey and should not be read as a guarantee that every trip will look exactly the same.

El Gouna is roughly 40 km north of Hurghada Airport. For a direct vehicle, our current route estimate is around 35–45 minutes. This is a planning range, not a guaranteed driving time: traffic, the airport exit, road conditions and the exact hotel or apartment entrance can change the final journey.
The exact destination inside El Gouna matters
El Gouna is not one hotel entrance. Abu Tig Marina, Downtown, hotels and private addresses are spread across the resort. Two guests both travelling to 'El Gouna' can therefore have slightly different final driving times. Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities also operates a dedicated licensing process for tourist transport vehicles, including issuing and renewing tourist-vehicle licences. That does not mean every other transport option is illegal; it means the regulatory framework and service model are different.

For a pre-booked transfer, continue through passport control, baggage reclaim and customs to the public arrivals area and follow the meeting instructions in your confirmation. For an Uber pickup, follow the live directions shown inside the app because the assigned HRG pickup point can vary. Whichever option you use, verify the driver or booking details before entering the vehicle.
Families, child seats and large luggage
Passenger count alone is not enough to select a vehicle. Checked suitcases, cabin bags, strollers, child-seat requirements and oversized equipment can change the practical capacity.
